Dentist Visit Today

January 6, 2010
filed under: Dentist, Emmy, Matt

So today both kids had dentist visits.  Emmy for a cleaning and check up and Matt to fill in some deep cracks to prevent any cavities. The appointments were at 1:15 and 3:15 on the other side of town from school.  So Emmy got picked up before lunch and we went to McDonalds, then picked up Matt early too.  Hey its a big enough strain going to the denstist I don’t need to rush back and forth and back and forth to pick Matt up.

So with Emmy we found out that she has deep crevices in her teeth and baby cavities forming- she must have her dads teeth both Matt and I were 13 before we faced this. She also had her first set of X-Rays done, she loved it that silly girl. We also found out that her 6 year molars are coming in- not surprised since she has been running a low grade fever off and on the past few months with no other symptoms.  She  did not like the fluoride treatment at all- next time not the Cherry flavored stuff….

Matt’s trip was in and out which was nice since Emmy’s was long…

So the end of the month we are back to take care of her teeth before they become a problem…… ugh oh well….

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This past weekend I did not let my son go to play laser tag with the middle school youth group.  No I didn’t, not after he spent 2 days home with his virus acting up again.  He should have been at a swim meet Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Oh yeah that’s right I did not let him drop swimming now not even 1/2 way through the season after practically half of his 14 years on this earth spent on a competitive swim team.

For Emmy I did not keep her home with me both Saturday and Sunday. While Matt played laser tag on Saturday and then on Sunday while Matt went bowling with Grandpa and helped rake leaves to help pay for the model grandpa bought him for his history class. So she spent a part of the day as slave labor cleaning up the family room where the Tree is going to go next weekend.

Bible Stories

November 18, 2009

I have been thinking about this for awhile now.  When Matt was young his favorite Bible story was David and Goliath.  I think that this was a perfect one for him, because of all the struggles he has gone through dealing with his ADHD. He can see a part of himself in David, fighting against the rest of the world who would represent Goliath. As a young child he struggled a lot fitting in among his peers, and dealing with others especially in school.  He was always a very intelligent  child, and also a loving one with a huge heart. Now at 14, he can control his ADHD with medication, he is like a whole other person on medication the chaoticness and Impulsivness in him is greatly reduced. He still battles his Goliath but now it is more as a normal average 14 year old boy.

With Emmy at 4 her favorite Bible story is Jesus dying on the cross. I think this shows how compassionate she is. With a theme of forgiveness and hope for the future I think that is perfect for what has gone on in her short life.  Especially everything that has happened between her father and me. She is in the process of learning how to forgive the fact that her dad is not living in her home anymore and that she can still love him unconditionally, even with him not around.  Then to have hope for the future of her life, and how she has faith that everything will turn out ok.  I look forward to watching her grow, to see if this stays her favorite Bible story and how her life is reflected in the story like how Matt’s has been.
