Summer Vacation

Well tomorrow is the first true day of Summer Vacation for both kids, I’m sure that Emmy will be asking “Do I go to school” very soon.  While Matt will enjoy the freedom of those oppressive school walls. Though he does not seem to realize that he will be doing a lot of work here, both in manual labor, in cleaning up the place and also with his own summer projects.  The 15th I start my own summer class, so Monday through Friday we all will be having school time, I found in the basement a pre-school workbook that Emmy will use so she’s going to join us on this venture.

The lazy days of Summer are upon us.

Pictures

You know I was going through some recent pictures that I have stored in my camera, I am so good about dumping them to the computer and deleting them from the camera, that range from the past 6 months or so. I once again realized that Matt does not like having his picture taken, I think there are only 2 in about 200+ that have him looking at the camera nicely (with 3 or 4 of him covering his face).  Now this kid was such a photogenic little mite when he was younger, a real ham for the camera.  But now at 13 he so dislikes me taking his picture, which stinks because he still could be a pretty nice looking kid.  If only he would comb his hair, there is a reason it’s buzz cut- he wont comb it at all, wear clean clothes not the same stuff he’s been wearing all week, and thankfully a picture doesn’t have smell o vision because he usually smells like a locker room- or chlorine since he is always in the pool.  I usually only keep my complaining to myself, because I know one day when he finds a girl he really likes this will all change.  In some ways I can not wait for that to happen, and in other ways he could stay only my guy forever though we’d probably kill each other before to long, we are way to alike in some ways. I think that this summer I am going to work on getting more pictures of Matt though, since he is still pretty much a cute young man- and as of Wednesday he’ll be a young man with braces.

Now pictures of Emmy are all around, she still loves to be in pictures- so I am sure going to keep taking pictures of my little girl.

But who can really blame Matt for not wanting his picture taken. I sure do not like to get my own picture taken, but then I am old and fat, while he is young, cute and thin (ok he’s a stick). Well here I will leave you with a picture of my 2 and some real Olympic Gold.

Another Friday.

Well today was Friday, just like any other Friday in some ways and very different in others.  Today was Emmy’s last day in the P-3 classroom, and yes she was promoted to the P-4s for next school year.  Today Matt served his Sat detention by putting in 2.5 hours preping for the High School graduation on Sunday, setting up tons and tons of chairs.  Bad part of that is that he needed to be there at 7 this morning, and Emmy’s day didn’t start till 8. So she slept in the car and I relaxed for a bit after we dropped Matt off.

Then this evening we did our normal Judo bit, now this is the same way we have always done Friday evenings since Matt started Judo 3 years ago.  Pick STBEx at the train hit Wendy’s for dinner and then we go to the Community Center where Matt does his Judo, and when the weather is nice like tonight Emmy hits the play ground.  Only big difference is that STBEx and I just tend to aviod eachother- what ever this is usually the only time he see’s the kids so I can deal with it.  Actually tonight was the first time in a week and a half he’s seen Matt and 2 and a half weeks for Emmy.  And during that time I’ve practically thrown the kids at him to take but nope he’s got his own plans.

Tonight he did take Matt to see Wolverine, which the 2 of us did see opening weekend but it was definately good enough for Matt to see again.

While the boys were out us girls were cleaning, Emmy and I cleaned out a good chunk of the garage, you now can park 2 cars in here instead of just 1.  There is still tons more to do in there, but first people need to take the junk interesting odds and ends we put  out on the curb.  Plus tons of recycling, and a stuffed huge garbage can (one that you rent from the garbage people), there are 4 more cans filled but since I don’t have any stickers at the moment those will wait.  See the girls do the work while the boys play, very typical at this house.  Watch out Matt because that is all changing, lucky kid.

So for one of those rare nights she is asleep in our bed before me, so I am savoring this alone time and the peace and quiet.  But I to am exhausted so I will be joining her asleep very soon.

Well I have an 8th Grader now

Today Matt had his last chapel and awards day.  Needless to say he did not recieve any awards, you need to put forth a bit of effort to get one.  Tomorrow he has to be at school early to work off his Sat detention that was rescheduled. Emmy has her last day, so at least it works out nicely.

Swimming tonight was better, not quite as cold for Matt, and Emmy slept for a nice little bit so things worked out nicely.

Another year has speed by, they just keep going by faster and faster the older Matt gets- which really stinks because I feel like I am missing out on so much with Emmy though I sure do spend a lot of time with her.
