The month of March

Things have been really busy here, we have all been sick and this sickness is not wanting to go away. Lets see what has happened since I’ve been gone. Matt went to Olivet Nazarene University March 13th and 14th to participate in the ACSI Music Festival.

This was a great experience for him and I am very proud at how hard he worked, the performances by all of the kids Saturday afternoon was really good. Matt also went up to Wisconsin to Camp Timber-Lee on March 26th and 27th, this was with all of the 7th and 8th graders at his school. Another great experience for him, doing some high rope excercises, team building excersises and just being with other kids his own age overnight in a cabin- I’m sure he was very happy to get away from his little sister for these two nights. March was a very good month for Matt, he’s worked hard and brought up his grades, his behavior has been good and he is working hard at getting up and moving in the mornings so that he can be on time.

Emmy has also had an interesting March. On the 19th her school has a Power Team Chapel, now in past years when the Power Team has come they have done the one man show at the school and had a more elabrite show held at a local church. Well this year we only had the one man show, which while intreging is nothing like the destruction and showmanship of a full Team show. Here is a picture of the Power Team member at Emmy’s school, he ripped that phone book in half:

Emmy also enjoyed some time out at a new park that the Park District just put in late last Fall:

Finally for Emmy, she had her preschool Spring program last night, well this is the dress she was suposed to have warn:

But due to the cold weather, and the fact that she has a cold herself right now this is Emmy and her program:

So that is what has been happening here.

It was a freezing day today.

Literally freezing. Last night the furnace blower motor went out, so today the house was only about 53degrees. Thankfully the furnace guy came, fixed the furnace cleaned it and then cleaned me out of way to much $$. But with 2 kids in the house it does need to be warm in here.

So I spent the day very cold huddled under blankets and working on the 4 Dreamweaver assignments that I need to turn in today.

I’ve also been experimenting with Twitter, and wow is it interesting and pretty confusing. But I will figure it out…

Ah another Tuesday has come and gone. I had to push to get 2 school work assignments done for my XML class. I also have 4 assignments to get done for my Dreamweaver class that are due tomorrow. At least those are fairly easy, for 2 of them its just following the exercises in the book and then the other 2 is taking the concepts I learned and applying them to my own website. Which last week I drastically changed the look of- so its time to really get into the look of that site. Thankfully with these assignments I’m forced to work on this final project. I also need to get working on the HTML/DHTML website I need to design, and the paper on XML. Ah so much to do for school and right now the drive is really not there- something to get working on.

I also need to get Matt’s bag packed for Friday when he goes away over night for a Band Conference. This is Matt’s year for over night trips with school, this Band Conference and then later this month he’s going to an Outdoor Education Camp. Emmy is going to be jealous, it would be nice if I could just send her along too.

I also need to get cracking on 2 assignments in my HTML/DHTML class- and if these are like the last chapter they will be a challenge.

Another great book series.

I just love it when I find a new series, it’s the best thing. Especially when I find it at the library and it doesn’t cost me a dime.

This time I was able to get the first 2 books of the series, and I have to wait till August for the 3rd to come out. Jessica Andersen is the author and she the series is titles: A Novel of the Final Prophecy. Night Keepers is the first book and Dawnkeepers is the second. I finished Night Keepers pretty fast, and the only thing that is keeping me from reading Dawnkeepers just as fast is that I am also reading Penman’s Devils Brood at the same time.

This series has a very interesting theme, the main part of that theme is that the world is possibly going to end on December 21, 2012. That is unless the Nightkeeper Warriors can keep the big bad guys under control. There is magic, romance, sex and mystery in these books as these inexperienced Nightkeepers and thier helpers learn what they are up against and how to fight them.

I really liked it and sure am looking forward to August when the 3rd book is going to come out.

Reading

I am an avid reader, I love many different kinds of books. From Romance, Fantasy, Sci Fi, Historical Fiction these are the ones I gravitate to the most. Once of my utmost favorites are the Historical Fiction books that are set in Medieval England, especially those around the time of King Henry and Queen Eleanor. I just eat those up.

That is why I am so happy to have found that one of my favorite authors Sharon Kay Penman has finally released her 3rd book in the trilogy of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Oh how I loved the first book and how I hated the 2nd, not for how it was written I loved that. I hated the way that Henry II was portrayed- it was probably very accurate but ugh I so did not like him. The same way I did not like the 5th Harry Potter book, when Harry was such a sniveling self absorbed 15 year old- so age appropriate but ugh I disliked his behavior. I was so happy he outgrew that behavior.

So now I’m working my way through the Devil’s Brood, and enjoying it. The intricacies of this family dynamic is fun to see how dysfunctional they are.

I also really enjoy another author that writes in this time frame, Elizabeth Chadwick. I just wish more of her books were available in the US, since when I checked tonight there are 3 of her books that I have not read. So I guess it is time to Ebay some of my old books so I can get my hands on some of these newer books.

So many books to read, and not enough time to read them all. But I sure will have fun with the ones that I do get to read.
